M7 Rebuild – Synergy, Muja Power Station

Breezewater provided initial consultancy and guidance post the collapse of the Marley 600 series double side cross flow cooling tower.

Major structural rebuild of the East and West fill (wet) sections of the cooling tower post the collapse of one side of the cooling tower.

The stabilisation of the structure enabled the six (6) cell tower to be converted to a single sided cross flow permitting the tower to operate at 50 to 60% capacity.

The staged hand back increased the available capacity enable the unit 7 Turbine to produce Electricity.

Breezewater were requested to attend site post the collapse occurring as concerns during a pretender meeting had been raised by our in-house structural engineer Graeme Spencer.

The Breezewater and Synergy Engineering team were convened and under the guidance of Graeme Spencer the structure was stabilised and converted to a single sided cross flow so East side of the Unit could be returned to service.

Breezewater systematically refurbished the West side of the tower returning initially the four (4) cells that had collapsed returning them to service whilst the two (2) remaining cells were rebuilt.

The tower was permitted to run at 100% for the peak power usage period and Breezewater returned to fully rebuild the East side in a similar manner.
